Overview
Design for America (DFA) is a national organization seeking to leverage the design thinking process to tackle projects focused on social good.
I led design in a team of five to research, design, test, and pitch a platform to connect underserved students with professional and personal growth opportunities for the YMCA's Changemakers initiative.
Research
We conducted over 8 interviews with leaders and students at the YMCA, on both the local and national level, to understand the strengths and weaknesses of current programming and how we could best help students succeed.
Y’s lack staffing, resources, and virtual infrastructure to provide additional take-home material. Students face ride insecurity + share hesitancies about in-person meetings. Goal tracking is difficult. Y's struggle to support students post-high school, but many students return as advisors to lead successful programs.

Solution
We came up with a platform aimed at long-term development with 3 central focuses: College, Professional, and Personal. I created the designs and concepts for each pathway to provide supplemental resources for any student to tap into from anywhere and at their own pace.
Profesional Development: Interviewing
The app offers self-guided, commonly asked interview question practice. Students can record answers or take notes for future reference + documentation, as well as refer to tips.
We aimed to foster transferable skills that can be applied in varying settings.
